Samhuinn 2026

Eclipse over León, Spain
Eclipse over León, Spain

It's that witchy time of year again! Happy Samhuinn!

When last we wrote, we were in Portugal, visiting megalithic sites and preparing to view a total solar eclipse. Clouds chased us inland, and we ended up seeing the eclipse in León, Spain, with a gorgeous view overlooking the city and the León Cathedral. It was a short eclipse--under two minutes of totality--but it was a beauty! Zen loved it, clapping his hands with delight as we watched the Moon completely cover the Sun to reveal the breathtaking corona.

Equinox found us in the Four Corners region yet again for a very brief trip, fitted in between work obligations. We were able to show Axis Mundi at Edge of the Cedars in Blanding, as well as check out a favorite equinox sunrise spot in the area. It's been really fun this fall to show our film in different places. We had a wonderful time in Blanding and in Helper, just yesterday in Pagosa Springs, and we look forward to our upcoming screening in Boulder, Utah (Nov. 14 at 6:00 pm, Anasazi State Park).

We're also getting ready for a new overseas adventure! Until Zen is two, he can fly for close to free, so we're taking advantage and doing another trip to England! We'll try to document Stonehenge at winter solstice, and Davd has been busy scheduling interviews at various museums. As usual, we'll rent a car and camp out of it and go where the weather guides us. We'd love to make it into Wales, but it sounds like December may not be the best time for it. Again, the weather will be the determining factor.

We fly out on Dec. 8, which means that our availability to fulfill calendar orders after (or on) that date will be limited. If you're interested in getting a calendar for 2027 (and it's a really cool one celebrating the Hopi ceremonial calendar), please do so soon so we can get that mailed off to you before we depart. The calendars always run from new moon before winter solstice to new moon after winter solstice the following year. This year that means that the calendar starts on Dec. 9, so it's good to order it early for that reason, as well!

Many blessings at this liminal time of year,

Chloe, Davd and Zen
