Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Retrograde Motion Pictures("we", "us") collects when you visit this website, sign up for our emails, or buy from our shop, and what we do with it. Questions? Email retrogrademotionpicture@gmail.com.
Information we collect
- Email signup. Your email address, when you sign up for updates in the site footer.
- Orders. Your name, email address, phone number, and shipping address, plus what you ordered. This is entered on our checkout page and is sent to Square to process and ship your order.
- Payment. Your card details are typed into a form provided by Square. We never see or store your full card number.
- Basic technical data. Your IP address and browser information reach our servers whenever you use the site. We use your IP address only briefly, in server memory, to limit repeated or abusive requests. We do not save it in our database.
- Your shopping cart. Your cart is saved in your own browser (local storage) so it is still there when you come back. It stays on your device until you buy or clear it.
We do not use advertising trackers or analytics cookies on this site.
How we use it
- To take payment, fulfill and ship your order, and calculate sales tax.
- To email you an order confirmation and answer questions about your order.
- To send you occasional news and updates, if you signed up.
- To protect the site from bots, fraud, and abuse.
- To keep records we need for accounting, tax, and legal reasons.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the site and shop, and only for that purpose:
- Square processes payments and holds order records, including your shipping details. See Square's privacy notice.
- Google (Google Cloud and Firebase) hosts the site and stores our database, including the email signup list and order records. Google reCAPTCHA checks signups and checkout for bots, and may collect device and browser information for that purpose.
- Resend sends our order confirmation emails.
- Shipping carriers receive your name and address to deliver your order.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or prevent fraud.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies for visitors. The only cookie we set is a login cookie used by our staff. Google reCAPTCHA may use its own cookies or similar technology on pages where it runs. We do not respond to "Do Not Track" signals because we do not track visitors across other websites. To our knowledge, the only third party that could collect information about your activity through this site is Google, through reCAPTCHA, as described above.
How long we keep it
- Email signups: until you ask us to remove you.
- Order records: as long as we need them for accounting, tax, and legal purposes. Square keeps its own records under its own policy.
Your choices
To stop our emails, reply to any of them and ask to unsubscribe. To see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, email retrogrademotionpicture@gmail.com. We may need to keep some order records for legal reasons.
Security
We use reputable, secure providers and limit who can see order and signup data. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will post the new version here with a new effective date. Our Terms of Use also apply to your use of the site.
